Steven Your Questions About Hhonors

Steven asks…

which airline mileage is better?

i just enrolled with hilton hhonors. you also get airline points when you stay with hilton. so my question is, which airline can i enroll without singing up for the airline credit card. which airline have good benefit and good rates to fly?

admin answers:

Depends where you expect to be flying the most in the upcoming years. Personally, I like Northwest, and have been a ff with them nearly 10 years. I have earned miles, and redeemed award travel, with their partner airlines KLM, Delta, and Continental, because they fly on routes that I’ve needed. These often have mileage bonuses, and mileage offers (lower fare + airmiles specials, upgrades, mileage-buster flights such as US-Europe for 25,000 miles instead of the normal 50,000, etc.). So, if one of these, or another “Skyteam” airline, serves the airport(s) you’ll use most often, then I highly recommend them. Http://www.nwa.com/worldperks/

American express credit card payment?

It should be the same for most amex cards but I have the Hilton hhonors card.
If i pay the payment the day it is due, is it late? I used the bill pay on the amex website. It says processing. It was due today and i send it this morning.
does anyone know the late fee?
it says by 8:00 pm MST. I live in EST. EST is about two hours ahead.

admin answers:

If by today you mean Sunday it probably won’t be posted until tomorrow. Usually when you make an online payment there is a section on the web site that tells you when payments are processed. For example, mine says that payments before 3:00 p.m. Will be process same day, but after 3:00 p.m. And on weekends, the next business day. You should go back to your payment web site and look.

Thomas Your Questions About Hhonors

Thomas asks…

do customer loyalty programs make customers real loyal to a company?

for example, hhonors of hilton, Gold passport of Hyatt hotels, Marriott rewards programme of marriott hotels and so on

admin answers:

Depends. Nowadays there are so many of these programs one can sign-up for simply through the Internet. It all depends upon what rewards are on offer and how easy it is to collect points to get those rewards. Some companies fix unrealistic targets and have a expiry date for the points or miles earned. Others are more flexible about the validity of points and easier targets.

Loyalty, I believe would be generated by high quality service at reasonable prices combined with flexibility of the product on offer. Just rewards are not known to help, if the product and service quality are poor or not up to the customer’s expectations.

Ken asks…

Hilton Hawaiian Village or the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio?

I am looking to redeem my HHonors points for a Hawaiian trip coming up in March. Would you recommend the Hilton Hawaiian Village, or the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio?

There are just 2 of us – no kids. Would the Hawaiian Village be too much of a family resort?

And location wise… is the Hawaiian Village more central to everything, or the Prince Kuhio, or neither? Just can’t really tell from the travel books where is the area I want to be at.

Most websites say that the Hawaiian Village have the largest portion of the beach. Does this mean that the beach is accessible by Hawaiian Village customers only? Somewhat confused as to why that is important.

I would appreciate it too If anyone has any feedback on Hhonors amenities on either of these hotels.

Thanks everyone!!

admin answers:

I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village last week. I am not a Hhonors yet I got a great corner room in the Rainbow Tower with ocean, yacht harbor and mountain views. The service at the hotel was excellent, and the food good. Drinks were pricey but if you want to sit on the beach looking at the sunset to see if there is a green flash………..

The HHV is on the west side of Waikiki. Closer to Ala Moana Shopping Center than to the center of Waikiki. I walked the beach from HHV to the statue of Duke K and back on the street in a half hour. So you could walk to places like the International Market Place or Ala Moana. Beach has space for all the hotel’s guests not something I could say about the area near the Sheraton.

Downside? The setting at HHV is more Guici shopping than Hawaiian Village. But then that is what Waikiki has morphed into. Yet they do have a a Hawaiian show every Friday evening that would be worth watching (we had a dinner reservation). Was about 60% full yet they closed 2 of their main restaurants. No matter which Hilton you go to, I would expect lots storefronts selling Hilton timeshares.

Robert asks…

Connecting to XBox Live at Hilton hotel?

In short, our house flooded, so I’m stuck at the Hilton here for approx. 2 months from an unkown start date. I want to play on xbox live, yet I can’t hold a connection for very long. Here’s the technical situation:

**I have Windows XP**

First off, I got rid of my previous connection bridge and created a new one between my ethernet connection to the xbox and the Hilton’s “hhonors” internet. Within the “details” under the support tab of this bridge is the following information:

IP Address: 172.16.1.66
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 172.16.1.1
DHCP Server: 172.16.1.1
DNS Servers: 12.127.16.67
12.127.17.71

Thus I plugged this info into my xbox, setting my xbox’s unique ip address to: 172.16.1.69

This allows me to connect to xbox live with a Moderate NAT type for a short period of time. I continuously get kicked off of xbox live and it is nearly impossible to finish 1 round in Fight Night before the connection is lost.

With the limited success I’ve had with ethernet here, I decided to try my wireless adapter. Now the only way to even successfully connect to the hhonors network is if I keep the manual configurations I had set for the ethernet connection. However the xbox live test is unable to connect to the internet, leaving me with the unhelpful “more info”, “Can’t access the internet. There may be a problem with your connection.”

Obviously it is impossible to reach the hotel’s “modem” which I’m sure is a multi-server network somewhere in the building. So my question is, are there any other ways I can successfully connect to xbox live while at this hotel? I have run out of ideas…

**My computer connects to “hhonors” easily, generating an “excellent” connection. However I need to type in my room number and last name in order to get internet access for 24 hours, if that information is at all helpful…**

admin answers:

Check around your room phone, there should be some kind of ethernet jack SOMEWHERE for wired high speed access
